Word of Life staff dinner

Last Friday was our annual all-staff Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner and program. This year, the Bible Clubs, Jr. that Becky participates in was asked to present a cantata called "A Brazilian Christmas". (Becky is front, left - in the orange) They did a super job! They also performed at church Sunday morning and will again this Wednesday, as an evangelistic outreach to teachers from a local school.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a great day with American missionary friends! We had 7 adults and 11 kids - lots of fun! We had a feast of turkey and dressing and all the trimmings, a few of the kids presented a piano number, poem, or song, we swam, then ate some more, and just enjoyed the day! We have so much to be thankful for!!!

Mud problem.......

We live on a dirt road with no drain and you can see the problem we had one day last week! As the song says, "The rains came down and the floods came up!" This muddy water was at our front door (and garage), ready to seep in, but we ran to unclog the drain in our driveway and try to push the mud and water away. All six of us, along with two friends, worked hard to keep the water out! It was a muddy mess, once the water went down!

The kids

We took the kids to a neat, little place for lunch last week. There were all sorts and colors of birds, ducks, peacocks, chickens, etc. and also fun craft shops. It was something different for the day!

Triathlon

Joshua, along with two friends, competed in our seminary's annual triathlon on Friday. It was a cool and very rainy day, but we all had a great time. Nicholas swam the length of the lake (600m), Andy biked (6.2 mi.), and Joshua ran (3.1 mi.). Their team (13-yr-olds) finished second place out of 8 teams! They did a super job!

Art class

Joshua and Rachel finished this semester's art class. They learned mosaic art and did many projects throughout these last 3 months. This class, and many others, are given at our church as an evangelistic outreach to the community. This picture was taken on their last day and includes a couple of friends who also took, their teacher, and a display of the projects done.

"Shout to the Lord"

Rachel had the opportunity to sing in church last Sunday morning. We thank the Lord for the talent He has given her and for her desire to use this talent for His glory!

Fun time in the 50's

Rachel and friends are off to a birthday party - 50's style. Actually, here in Brazil, it is the 60's! Twin girls from our church had their big "15th" birthday, much like a girl in the States would have a "Sweet 16". (Hannah, Rachel, Alice, Sarah - These are also the girls that sang in the talent show a few weeks ago)

Clubs camp in Rio de Janeiro

A great weekend of ministry with the "First Baptist Church of Copacabana". Ken was the main speaker and the rest of our Clubs staff led small group studies. Susan taught on purity of the heart. (for girls only)
